1996 Pontiac Firebird Convertible For Sale This 1996 Pontiac Firebird Convertible is a well-kept, largely original example showing 47,000 miles. 1996 was a strong year for the base V6 Firebird: Pontiac bumped the 3.8-liter up to a stronger 200-horsepower rating as the standard engine, and it was also the first model year to run GM's OBD-II computer system, putting this car right at that update point in the F-body's history.Power comes from the 3.8-liter SFI V6 backed by a 4-speed automatic transmission, an upgrade over the standard 5-speed manual on this build. The factory setup includes power rack-and-pinion steering, a short/long-arm rear suspension with monotube gas-filled shocks, and front/rear stabilizer bars, giving the car the balanced, comfort-oriented ride the fourth-generation Firebird convertible was built around.The car wears Dark Aqua Metallic paint over a Graphite cloth interior, with the factory power top and glass rear window defroster still in place. Equipment carried over from the original build includes 16-inch aluminum wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob from the leather appointment group, remote keyless entry, power driver's seat with 6-way adjustment, and the gauge package with tachometer. The only change from factory is a Boss brand Bluetooth radio in place of the original AM/FM cassette unit, giving the car modern connectivity without altering anything else about the drivetrain or chassis.
